Batching logs

I've been trying to find a viable way to do this, but no luck. Use cases for batching: 1) A fallback appender that runs out of options. (Say, the machine can only talk to network connections to report errors, and the network is down for a while.) 2) An SMTP appender that collects a chunk of messages before sending them out, to avoid spamming the recipient with a separate mail message per log entry. This isn't too hard to do actually, but one aspect got me stumped: Application termination. Not that it's hard to add a termination hook and task it with sending the logs. However, how do I make sure that logs generated by other termination hooks get sent? I found no way to make sure that the terminatin hook thread stays alive until all other threads that use logging have terminated.

Hi all, Is source or pseudo code available for PropertiesTranslator? http://logback.qos.ch/translator/ http://logback.qos.ch/translator/asGroovy.html I'm interested in upgrading existing customer installations from log4j to logback without sending them to the website. Either XML or Groovy is acceptable. Thanks for any help, Justin

Syslog over TLS support added

Dear All, I implemented the TLSSyslogAppender, which is capable of sending syslog messages over TLS. It supports the old legacy BSD and the new RFC 5424 syslog format, too. I haven't written tha javadoc yet, because I'm waiting for feedback from you. I would appreciate it if it would become a part of logback. using Pattern and Layout on same Encoder is not working

Hi, I'm working in aproject where I need to log same information in different log files. I have 2 different Appenders, but I need to use only one custom Layout to avoid computing the same information twice Is there a way to do so? 2 Appenders but only 1 executing layout? Also, I'm trying to use a Pattern with a custom Layout, but either I get the pattern executed or the Layout, but not both. How could I get both to work?
