The problem with this fix is that, hourly log files without reference to the day, will cause archive files to overwrite each other every hour after the first 24 hours. Moreover, archive removal is activated at start up, which means that both maxHistory and cleanHistoryOnStart are specified. This is really a degenerate configuration which logback does not support nor should it.

I will revert the changes in PR 140 in the near future.
