To be honest, I grabbed that part of the code from logback or slf4j but I don't remember from where. If it doesn't make sense then you should probably remove it.
Also, instead of adding a new method for this feature I think it might make sense to add it to an existing method of SLF4JBridgeHandler or LevelChangePropagator.
