In TimeBaedRollingPolicy.java method rollover() assumes that elapse period's file is closed. In LOGBACK-879 as prudent mode is not set to "true" file locks can be with any of the JVM. At the rollover trigger its not guarantee that file is closed. Hence file can be skipped. Well in prudent mode, file compression is not supported.
