Problem with ViewStatusMessagesServlet

Given the following configuration excerpt: context.name = "myapp" statusListener(OnConsoleStatusListener) appender("CONSOLE", ConsoleAppender) { encoder(PatternLayoutEncoder) { pattern = "%d{HH:mm:ss,SSS} %-5p [%c{1}.%M] %m%n" } } appender("FILE", FileAppender) { file = "target/csi.log" encoder(PatternLayoutEncoder) { pattern = "%d{HH:mm:ss,SSS} %-5p [%c{1}.%M] %m%n" } } logger("com.myapp", DEBUG) logger("org.jboss.resteasy", DEBUG) root(WARN, ["FILE", "CONSOLE"]) I am finding that the ViewStatusMessagesServlet is outputting neither "myapp" as the context name (still uses "default") nor any of my application log messages. So nothing from com.myapp or org.jboss.resteasy is coming up. Here is the configuration in web.xml: <servlet> <servlet-name>Log</servlet-name> <servlet-class>ch.qos.logback.classic.ViewStatusMessagesServlet</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Log</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/logging</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> I would appreciate some insight into what's wrong with my configuration. tomcat configuration - jndi selector initialization printed three times

Hi, just tried to set up logging with logback on tomcat6. When I start tomcat with my webapplication I get the message from the jndi context selector "searching for mylogback.xml" followed with status information lines 3 times within my catalina.out (the timestamps are the same) and wonder if this as expected? What I did: - copied logback core, classic, access and the slf4j api libraries to tomcats lib folder. I added the valve to the server.xml (but no logback-access.xml right now). I added the "-Dlogback.ContextSelector=JNDI" within setenv.sh. Within web.xml I added the filter and listener as recommended, added both jndi env entries as stated within chapter 9. There is just one webapp running currently, but need to set up same webapp within same tomcat multiple times. Did I missed anything or do you have any idea why the message is displayed three times? SyslogAppender for logback access

Hi, I've tried to get SyslogAppender to work for our jetty access log with no success. The access log is configured correct and writes to a file. The syslogappender also works on its own when I log to it from my application log. When I add a syslogappender to logback-access.xml nothing happens. After debugging logback I see that Syslogappender expects an IloggingEvent and not an AccessEvent resulting in a classcast exception. I've unsuccessfully tried to implement my own appender overriding syslogappender. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve this? Any tip/trick feedback would be appreciated even if it's to confirm this is functionality not implemented and not easily done. Best regards, Henning

executing configuration changes

Hello, I'm investigating slf4j + logback, if it solves my requirements: I need to change the logging configuration during application runtime and read the documentation about the config file scan. Can this reconfiguration be done by my self without using the scan? More precisely: can I add and remove an own TurboFilter during runtime from my program code? How about logging events fired while applying these changes? Is it guaranteed, that no event will be lost? Best regards, Lars

Changing Hibernate logging level

Hello, I'd like to change Hibernate logging level to WARN. As explained on this page<http://docs.jboss.org/hibernate/core/3.5/reference/en/html/session-configur…>, you have to change the Hibernate Log Category "org.hibernate" to "WARN". It works perfectly with log4j when I add "log4j.logger.org.hibernate=WARN" to log4j.properties file. But when I change slf4j dependency to use logback instead of log4j and when I use the following logback.xml file, it doesn't work, I have Hibernate debug logs. Web Interface Not Showing Application Log Messages

I just made the switch from Log4J to Logback, and I have things working where all my application messages are being printed to the console. I also have the servlet configured to print the log messages to the web interface. Unfortunately, the only messages shown there are Logback's own logs. None of my application messages appear. How is it possible that all my application messages appear in the console but not on the web interface? Is there any additional configuration necessary? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
