combining files in Lilith

Peaceful Coexistence with log4j

Although I am a Logback fan, my project uses Zookeeper, which apparently has a direct dependency on log4j: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZOOKEEPER-721 I will thus need log4j in my classpath. Can log4j and Logback coexist peacefully in the same build? Thanks.

Logger context for EJBs in .ear file?

Hi, how can I set the logger context in an .ear file that is deployed to a GlassFish 3.1.1 application server? What I want to achive is that each application has a separate logfile. I've read Chapter 9 and tried this successfully with a war archive with this entry in the WEB-INF/web.xml file: <env-entry> <env-entry-name>logback/context-name</env-entry-name> <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type> <env-entry-value>app1-web</env-entry-value> </env-entry> But when I add the same entry to the application.xml of the ear file, Logback does not find the JNDI entry. My logback.xml is: <configuration> <jmxconfigurator /> <insertFromJNDI env-entry-name="logback/context-name" as="appName" /> <appender class="ch.qos.logback.core.ConsoleAppender" name="CONSOLE"> <encoder class="ch.qos.logback.classic.encoder.PatternLayoutEncoder"> <pattern>%-5level ctx: ${CONTEXT_NAME} %d{HH:mm:ss.SSS} [%thread] %logger - %msg</pattern> </encoder> </appender> <root level="TRACE"> <appender-ref ref="CONSOLE" /> </root> </configuration> I believe that Logback cannot find the JNDI entry because it is looking for "java:comp/env/logback/context-name" but the entries in application.xml refer to "java:app/env"? How to suppress image logging in logback-access?

I'm using logback-access with Jetty. It's working fine, except that http requests for images (*.jpg, *.gif) are getting logged. Most app servers suppress these log records because they bloat the logs. When I was using the old Jetty NCSARequestLog object, there was a setIgnorePaths() method that worked, but the logback RequestLogImpl doesn't have a similar method. I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it in logback-access.xml, perhaps using some kind of filter. Does anyone have the appropriate syntax?

Logging of the Request input with teefilter before it is treated

Hello *, Does somebody know if Logback and the Teefilter can log an incoming tomcat request before it is handled? I have following problem: a request comes, and it seems the system does not respond (surely a bug in my handling of the request). However, I cannot find any trace of the request, as teefilter only logs it when the response is send; and im my case it is never send... TeeFilter modifies the encoding of the dataes

Hello *, I have observed that the use of TeeFilter corrupts the accents in my http webpages. Surely we have the same problem as the one described for the RequestDumpValve in the bug https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=40177. Can somebody confirm it? Hello again :) Can i programmatically create loggers for spring , hibernate and other frameworks? means something like : logfactory.getlogger("org.springframework"); and then set the apropriate level ? Is this possible? because i tried it but don't really think it works Thanks for help
