why Logback generates two log files?

Iam using Logback1.1.2 for logging and i am using Rollingfile appender and Time based rolling policy. It generates two files one with the log file (sample.log) and the other with yesterday's date (sample-2014-07-27.0.log). I am not sure why this is happening. How to get rollingfileappender to roll over based on log size

I've been trying to get the rollinglogfileappender to roll-over at a certain file size, but I've had no luck. I can get it to roll over at midnight each night, but I still would prefer to either combine them or have it just be file-size limited. Why would logback ever READ the log file it is writing to?

In our java application that uses logback, and running under Windows 7, the sysinternals process monitor (www.sysinternals.com) shows that the java process is READING the application's log file. Why would this be? I had thought that an appender would only append to the end of the log file and am surprised to see this, especially after I insisted it couldn't be true. Can someone explain why logback would need to READ a logfile? I can categorically say that none of the application's code reads the file. Steve Cohen

Hi All, I know that logback can be used in java application and can support rotating log files with gzip compression. How about i want to compress the files with other compression algorithm say lz4. Is there any way I can achieve this? Thanks.

Include file element with wildcard match

Hello, is there a way to include files in the logback configuration file using a wildcard match? For example: *<include file="/src/main/java/chapters/configuration/*-includedConfig.xml"/>* The requirement would be than to read all files matching the *-includeConfig.xml pattern. Is there a way to configure this, or, if not, can anyone give me a starting point to extend the library with custom code for this? Best regards, Dirk

Android pro guard warnings building with ant

Hello, I've been building an app with log back-android and have it configured to use file and logcat appenders. It works exactly as I want when building a debug version via Eclipse ADT or with 'ant debug'. However, with a release build and Proguard enabled, I have ~50 warnings locating referenced classes from the javax.xml.Stream package. As far as I can tell, this package doesn't existin in android. Is there any additional dependency I have overlooked? I have downloaded both the slf4j and logback-android jar's and added the documented Proguard rules to my project as well. Cannot configure Pax logging to use the loggback config instead of the standard log4j properties like syntax

I have some services in tomcat and trying to move to apache karaf. I have a existing service which uses logback for logging configuration. I tried to make same configuration in osgi, but could not achieve. Any please let me know what could be the problem? org.ops4j.pax.logging.cfg org.ops4j.pax.logging.logback.config.file=${karaf.home}/etc/logback.xml logback.xml is available at ${karaf.home}/etc/ --. Apache Karaf version : 3.0 , pax logging 1.7.1 which is packaged with karaf from build.
