Loading the file logback.groovy,have a error,follow: -ERROR in ch.qos.logback.classic.LoggerContext[default] - Groovy classes are not available on the class path. ABORTING INITIALIZATION. Separate log within same application

I use logback in my application to log errors and, if necessary, warnings and info. It's set up and it works great. I'd like to have a separate log that keeps track of user activity within our admin tools. For example, say user x deleted some information using the admin tools, I'd like to log that. In some cases there might be both error logging and user behavior logging in the same class. I'm not clear on how you would separate the two, since I'm using the LoggerFactory with the class name: final static Logger logger = LoggerFactory.getLogger(UserDB.class); What would be the best way of doing this? Change the log level to Debug when the application intercepts an unexpected error

Hi guys, I'm new in this list and logback and as I'm a brazilian, English is not my first language. Please apologize for all the mistakes. In my company the error level is set on production environment and sometimes the stacktrace is not enough to figure out the problem. What we have to do after been notified of the problem is deploy a new xml changing the level to info or debug. Trust me, this can take a while. I know that logback can use JMX but as it will probably be on the server in production we will have restriction to change it and the person responsible to operate the server will take a while to do it. Anyway, if we can update the log level to debug it will generate an overhead on the server and create a log of logs which we are not interested in. How can we log in a different level for a specific user? How can I turn on debug level for this user when the application catch an error? Thank you, Lucas Fabiano

Logback for Jetty HTTP logs and Java application logs

Is it possible to use one instance of logback for logging Jetty request logs and Java logs? Jetty is embedded, so when I configure 2 instances, I got a warning: ` Class path contains multiple SLF4J bindings`. For Java Logs, I get logger from Logger factory. In case of Jetty logs, I configure RequestLogHandler . How to configure one instance? How can I separate HTTP request and Java logs? Many thanks for help. Best Regards, Tigran.

A way to reconfigure logback-access without restarting tomcat?

Hi, I'm using the LogbackValue to have logback log out the full content of HTTP requests and responses. I've got this working, and have a filter (ch.qos.logback.core.filter.EvaluatorFilter) working to filter only the interesting ones that I'm after. My question is: is it possible to have the logback-access.xml be scanned for changes on the fly in the same way that the regular classic logback.xml is. i.e. scan="true" in the configuration node? Currently the only way I've been able to update the config in logback-access.xml is to stop and restart tomcat. Updating the file and redeploying the web-app do not seem to re-read the config. I also looked in with jconsole after finding 'JMXConfigurator', but the entry under Valves for LogbackValve didn't have any operations that seemed to do this. toString alternative in MessageFormatter

Hey everyone, I'm interested in making a custom converter to replace the MessageConverter that renders certain objects differently depending on configuration. Right now I have something like: public class MyMessageConverter extends MessageConverter { @Override public String convert(ILoggingEvent event) { Object[] argumentArray = event.getArgumentArray(); if (argumentArray != null) { for (Object o : argumentArray) { if (o.getClass() == BoardState.class) { return MyMessageFormatter.arrayFormat(event.getMessage(), argumentArray, someOptions).getMessage(); } } } return super.convert(event); } } Within 'MyMessageFormatter', which I copied from org.slf4j.helpers.MessageFormatter, I override String oAsString = o.toString(); within 'safeObjectAppend', depending on the class and the options. IE, I may want a simple string representation of a given object or something verbose. Essentially, I want to choose methods on those objects besides 'toString'. It seems wrong to have to copy so much code, and would be great if MessageConverter was more extensible and didn't depend on the difficult to configure MessageFormatter. Am I going about this wrong?
