Logback => TLS/SSL => Syslog ?

Hi, Does Logback support sending logs to Syslog servers via TLS/SSL? I have a feeling Logback doesn't have a SyslogAppender that can send data using TLS. I say that because I don't see a mention of "syslog" on http://logback.qos.ch/manual/usingSSL.html and I see http://jira.qos.ch/browse/LOGBACK-890 that mentions TLSSyslogAppender, but it looks like this never ended up in Logback. I've only found it committed here: https://github.com/balabit/logback/commit/e0d89de2536e0925a6c816a50793f6a74… Could anyone please clarify? Separate stacktrace from others logs

Hello ! I'd like to separate my stacktrace from other logs in 2 different files. I manage to do that with 2 appenders: The first one with %nopex: <encoder> <charset>UTF-8</charset> <pattern>%nopex %d{dd/MM/yyyy-HH:mm:ss.SSS} [%thread][%X{TRANSACTION_ID}] %-5level %logger{36}:%L - %msg%n</pattern> </encoder> The second with only %xException{full} But now I want to add my MDC field TRANSACTION_ID when an exception arises (and only when an exception pop up). Just adding %X{TRANSACTION_ID} to my pattern doesn't work, I have a new line for every log line even when I don't have any exception. Do you have any idea of how to do it ? Thank you !

I am using logstash-logback-encoder to print logs in json format. Groovy configuration includes

Hi, Is there any way for groovy configuration to do something like <include file="logback-parent.xml" /> with current logback functionality? I noticed that http://jira.qos.ch/browse/LOGBACK-1002 says that there isn't something like that at the moment, and the pull request for it is still open (https://github.com/qos-ch/logback/pull/257) We need to have different runtime configurations of logback depending on the environment, especially for production. If logback.groovy is inside the jar then any potential issues with logback that might arise in production can't be fixed quickly without messing with the jar, so this issue is blocking us from migrating to groovy away from xml. Escape % in FileNamePattern

Hi, I'd like to know how to escape % special character in fileNamePattern of TimeBasedRollingPolicy. The path contains % character, but escape backslash in fileNamePattern is interpreted as directory separator. Thanks, Tomas

Simple web application (LogUI) to manage runtime logback configuration online.

Hi, I am an author of simple JEE application to manage runtime logback configuration online. The first version is only allows to show current logger list and manage log levels. Main goal was to simplify the integration with "customer" projects. So it is enough to add only one maven dependency to start using the LogUI in modern JEE application. LogUI is a web fragment and will appear on /jrs/logui/index.html after that. Curious if there's any more I can do to generate some activity on https://github.com/qos-ch/logback/pull/285. I run into this exception often enough that I'd love to see a fix (mine or another) merged and if I'm even luckier, released out in the world. Thanks for your help. -DB

Extending Logback Gaffer to allow SiftingAppender to be configured when using Groovy DSL

So, I made a little project to extend Logback Gaffer so that SiftingAppender can be configured in Groovy DSL, like this: ``` import ch.qos.logback.classic.sift.SiftingAppender import ch.qos.logback.classic.sift.MDCBasedDiscriminator import ch.qos.logback.classic.PatternLayout appender("SIFT", SiftingAppender) { discriminator(MDCBasedDiscriminator) { key = "userid" defaultValue = "unknown" } sift { appender("FILE-${userid}", FileAppender) { file = "${userid}.log" append = false layout(PatternLayout) { pattern = "%d [%thread] %level %mdc %logger{35} - %msg%n" } } } } root(DEBUG, ["SIFT"]) ``` The codebase still needs a little bit of polish, but functionality wise, it should work OK. Hi. (Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but... oh well.) So, I was checking out Logback Spring extension[1], and reached the part about declaring appender as bean in Spring XML[2]. I then thought, "hmm, maybe I can do something about this!" so I made a project[3] to allow declaring <appender /> tags in Spring XML.
