[logback-user] Why is SMTPAppenderBase.setCharsetEncoding not public

Hi all Is there a specific reason why the SMTPAppenderBase.setCharsetEncoding method is not public. I'd like to call it but to do that need either to extend or have a class in the same package which I don't really want. Do I miss something ? Cheers Andy
