[Fwd: SLF4J on the Google Android Platform]

Forwarding with permission by Thorsten
Hi Ceki,
finally, I had some time during the last days to do remaining steps for a first "official" release.
First, I created a small Web page as a documentation. I took the Web page of the sub project "slf4j-taglib" as a starting point. Meanwhile I have rsynced the html page file plus the slf4j-android-1.5.8.jar file with the server as described by you. And my intuition was right :-) I can already access the page via http://www.slf4j.org/android Could you please check if everything is conforming to the SLF4J quality/style/formal... criteria.
Second, I signed the CLA and you should receive a letter (via snail mail) in the next days.
So almost everything is prepared for the first final release. What should be done is to add a link to the main menu on the web site - I suggest to add a link named "slf4j-android" to the "Sub-projects" section.
One last thing: I would prefer to have the source code in the "main" repository, i.e., not the fork created by me. Reason: have everything in one place. Do you think that this would be possible (in the medium term)?
Cheers, Thorsten

Hi Thorsten, Sorry for not having replied earlier. I've been as busy as a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. The http://www.slf4j.org/android/ page looks good and I have received your signed ICLA. Thank you. Note that that document assigns copyright to slf4j-android to QOS.ch, although you retain the original copyright. To avoid any confusion, instead of the copyright notice to your name, (which is perfectly legal as you retain your copyright) I would propose to use the same and identical copyright notice as for the rest of slf4j files, with copyright QOS.ch. You see, it would be intractable if slf4j contributors sprinkled their own copyright throughout slf4j code. If that is unacceptable or if you hadn't realized the implications of the ICLA, or if you are having second thoughts for whatever reason, please let me know asap, so that I can return the ICLA document to you. Obviously, the credits section can remain as is (attributing credit to you). If you have not done so, you could also add your name in the @authors sections in the relevant java source code files. As for merging slf4j-android with slf4j proper, I think that's something we should look into at a later stage. Cheers, Ceki Gülcü wrote:

From my side the Web page is ready to go "visible", that is, be linked from the main menu.

Thank you. Unfortunately, the notice references slf4j.org. Sorry to bother you with this but the copyright holder should be QOS.ch.

Indeed, for those who would like to build the slf4j-android, i think you should add a link to the git repo for slf4j-android on the project's page. I've added a reference to slf4j-android as discussed. The change should be visible after slf4j v 1.5.10 is released. Best regards,
Cheers, Thorsten
